Michele Xiaoyun Fan is a ceramic artist based in Brooklyn, New York. Her hand-built sculptures explore the tension between vitality and impermanence, using clay to reflect on both the strength of life and its fragility.

Ceramic is central to her practice for its earthy, tactile qualities and deep connection to traditional craftsmanship. Each work is made entirely by hand, emphasizing process, intention, and material presence.

Michele draws inspiration from the forms and systems of the natural world—marine life, plant structures, and microscopic organisms. These sources inform the surreal, organic figures that populate her work—creatures that feel at once familiar and otherworldly. Through them, she imagines a hidden dimension quietly unfolding alongside our own: a realm where the strange beauty of life is continuously forming, growing, and dissolving.
